Още с основаването си, през 2003 г., Българското Дружество в Калгари предприе инициативата за учредяване на Българско Училище. Училището отвори вратите си за първи път на 7 Септември 2003 година. Не без известна гордост отчитаме, че вече 18 години тук в Калгари български деца се учат да четат, пишат и говорят на езика на своите корени. Тук, те научават и за историята , географията и фолклора на България. Най-голямото предимство, обче остава контактът на децата с другите техни връстници. Така естествено се създават нови приятелства и дълготрайни взаимни връзки между деца и между родители. Българското Училище разчита и на помощта на родителите и на завършилите вече български ученици, които подпомагат работата на учителите и учениците в учебния процес.
Програмата на Българското Училище “Св. Св. Кирил и Методий”е съобразена с изискванията на Министерството на Образованието и Науката, България, които препоръчват използване на най-новите български учебници, и на такива създадени специално за деца, живеещи в чужбина. Основното финансиране на училището е подпомогнато от Българското Дружество. Част от дейността на училището се финансира също от МОН, под програмата Роден език и култура зад граници.
Southern Alberta Heritage Language Association (SAHLA) е друг наш благодетел. С помощта на тази организация, която подкрепя езиковото и културно образование на народностите в Алберта, ние имаме достъп до наемане на училище от Калгарския училищен борд, където атмосферата за провеждане на учебни занятия е професионална и близка до нашите ученици. В учебната прогарама са застъпени теми от ежедневното речево общуване, граматика, родинознание и етнография. Децата ще имат възможност да се запознаят с българския фолклор и произеденията на известни български автори. Всяко занятие ще предлага на учениците възможност да участват в забавни упражнения, викторини и съревнования, които ще затвърдят новите знания и ще провокират амбициите на децата за успех. В програмат още е застъпено изучаването и празнуване на основни български празници
Bulgarian School since its founding, in 2003, the Bulgarian Society in Calgary has taken the initiative to establish the Bulgarian school. The school opened its doors for the first time on 7 September 2003 year. Not without some pride, consider that already 18 years here in Calgary Bulgarian, children are learning to read, write and speak the language of their roots. Here, they learn about the history, geography and folklore of Bulgaria. The biggest advantage is that the children's contact with their other peers remains. Thus, new friendships and long-lasting relationships between children and parents are created naturally. The Bulgarian school also relies on the help of the parents and the already graduated Bulgarian students who support the work of teachers and students in the learning process.
The program of the Bulgarian School "St. St. Cyril and Methodius "is in compliance with the requirements of the Ministry of Education and Science, Bulgaria, which recommends the use of the latest Bulgarian textbooks, and of such created especially for children living abroad. The Bulgarian society supported the main funding of the school. The MINISTRY of Education also funds part of the school's activity under the program native language and culture abroad.
Southern Alberta Heritage Language Association (SAHLA) is another of our benefactors. With the help of this Organization, which supports the linguistic and cultural education of the peoples of Alberta, we have access to the recruitment of school from the Kalgarskiâ school board, where the atmosphere for conducting classes is professional and close to our Students. In the educational Progarama are covered topics of daily speech communication, grammar, rodenology and ethnography. The children will have the opportunity to get acquainted with Bulgarian folklore and the origins of famous Bulgarian authors. Each occupation will offer students the opportunity to participate in entertaining exercises, quizzes and competitions, which will consolidate the new knowledge and provoke the ambitions of the children for success. The study and celebration of major Bulgarian holidays is still in the program.
